What to Expect

After we have picked you up at your hotel we start our tour through beautiful Marrakech with a visit to the famous Majorel Gardens and possibly the Yves Saint Laurent Museum (closed on Wednesday). It takes about two hours hour to view both.

After this we continue in the direction of the Menara Gardens and meanwhile we pass some of the highlights of Marrakech. When the weather is nice we also see the impressive Atlas Mountains at a certain moment when we continue our drive a bit to Ourika and the mountains and hope that the weather is clear enough to see these beautiful Atlas Mountains.

Then we 'll drive back to the center of the City and have a delicious 3-course lunch in, by far the best french restaurant in Marrakech, Restaurant "Le Petit Cornichon" (Included in the price of the trip).

Of course it's possible to take a wine arrangement with 3 glasses of wine with every cours; ask Otman for it, the head waiter.

Of course are the wines not included in the price of the trip.

Please, take your time to relax and enjoy this delicious lunch and the tasteful wines. It's a moment of rest in the hectic of Marrakech.

After this lunch we have time to visit an Argan company where we show you how Argan Oil has been made, in Kasbah, a very old neighbourhood in the Medina with a lot of beautiful cultural and valuable treasures.

You also will have the opportunity to take a look at a Cooperative of Argan oil products. Then we will leave the Medina again and drive towards Palmeraie where you can see the beautiful combination of palms and camels. Optionally, you can interrupt the tour with a ride on a camel or to view the "Water Museum", a museum that highlights the water issues of Morocco.

Finally, we will take you back to your hotel via a route that we have not yet driven to get the best possible picture of Marrakech.

Details about The Marrakech

Marrakesh is a city in the west of Morocco and the capital of the province of Marrakesh. It has more than 1 million inhabitants. This city is one of the four royal cities of Morocco, together with Fez, Meknes and Rabat. The city is located on the fertile Haouzvlakte, at the foot of the High Atlas at an altitude of approximately 450 meters.

Marrakesh was founded in 1062 and was the capital of the empire of the Almoravids. In the twelfth century it was the capital of the Almohads. The city was an important trading city for the caravan routes in the Sahara. The Koutoubia mosque was built around 1162. The city had a population of over 200,000 people in the 13th century, making it one of the largest cities in the world.

At the time of the French protectorate of Morocco (1912-1956) a new city center was built outside the old city walls: Gueliz. Hotels, offices and other (modern) buildings are kept out of the medina (the old center) and are concentrated in the new neighborhoods such as Gueliz and Hivernage. The old center, around Djemaa el Fnaplein and the aforementioned Koutoubia mosque have been well preserved.

The historic core of the city (the medina) was declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1985. The central square of the city, Djemaa el Fna, is very popular with tourists, as is the adjacent souk ("bazar") with its picturesque alleys and stalls selling all kinds of merchandise. Both have an exotic atmosphere for the experience of Europeans. During the day there are many street artists, including snake charmers, on the square, where former executions took place (the name means "Square of Death") and in the evening there are dozens of food stalls. More than many other large Moroccan cities, the city has managed to retain its Moroccan identity.

The city is 230 km south of Casablanca and 310 km from the capital Rabat. About 250 km southwest is the tourist resort of Agadir on the Atlantic Ocean. The nearest coastal town is the port city of Safi at 150 km.
