What to Expect

Summary

After we have picked you up at 9.30 a.m. from your hotel or riad, we head south to Lalla Takerkoust, a journey of approximately 45 minutes.

In Lalla Takerkoust or one of the other villages in the area it is possible to visit a house where a Berber family lives and you can see how they live. This while enjoying a cup of mint tea and bread with olive oil and jam and honey.

Then we continue towards the lake.

Arriving at the lake there are several options.

You can take a brisk walk where you can enjoy the wonderful coolness of the lake and the beautiful view. You can also do something on the lake of a sporting nature where there is a range of possibilities, for example jet skiing, surfing or exploring the lake by boat. Swimming is not allowed because the water is too cold and you could quickly get cramp in your muscles.

After a few hours of enjoying this beautiful lake, you can enjoy lunch in restaurant "Le Relais du Lac", a restaurant directly on the water where you can enjoy the Moroccan cuisine and of course the breathtaking view over the lake.

Our return trip to Marrakech starts at the end of the lunch. On the way back you can visit a house of a Berber family if you have skipped that in the morning.

Then we will take you back to your hotel or riad.

This day trip can be combined well with the trip to Ourika Valley or the trip to Agafay.

We are open to other times and places, just let us know.

Details about Lake Takerkoust

Summary

English

Lake Takerkoust is an artificial lake that was built by the French in the 1920s with the aim that this would be a suitable water supply point for drinking water.

The water is very cold but clear and because of the cold nature it is not suitable for swimming. Other sports are possible on the water.

The lake is located south of Lalla Takerkoust.

There are various hotels and restaurants around the lake.

It is advisable to go to the lake early in the morning as this is a popular area for locals and tourists alike, especially at the weekend.

Due to its favorable location, this trip can be combined well with other day trips.

Hi interested in this trip for two persons including the hike on Wednesday 30 October 2019 from Marrakech (Hotel Sirayane Boutique). Is that feasible? Best regards/Jo
